HOW IT WORKS

At DiscipleTrips, we know that you want to be a “WORLD CHANGER” for Christ. One big way to do that is by serving on a mission trip. However, many people do not have the connections, training or experience to organize a short-term mission trip, which leaves many feeling they can’t go.

We believe that going on a mission trip shouldn’t be so difficult!

DiscipleTrips is here to remove the barriers that may be stopping you from going on a mission trip. What do we do? DiscipleTrips organizes a variety of short-mission trips, led by our staff of qualified trip guides, so that YOU CAN take that step of faith to GO and MAKE DISCIPLES!

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

APPLY

  • Once you decide you want to take part in a DiscipleTrip, simply fill out an online application.

  • DiscipleTrips is open to ages 16 and up (Note: ages 14-15 can come if accompanied by a
parent/guardian). Students, families, adults and retirees are all welcome as our trips are designed to be inter-generational.

REFERENCES AND DEPOSIT

  • Once you have submitted your application, DiscipleTrips will contact your character references.

  • Your application will be reviewed when we’ve received feedback from your references. Once a decision is made, you will be promptly notified.

  • Upon acceptance, the next step will be to submit a $150 deposit to secure your spot on the team (space is limited and we usually have a waiting list).

PAYING FOR YOUR TRIP

Travel isn’t cheap so we do everything we can to keep our costs low because we believe mission trips need to happen! Our operating expenses are covered by faithful donors who believe in our vision. When you pay for a DiscipleTrip, you’re paying for the trip itself and nothing more. We don’t want money to keep anyone from going.

PAYMENTS

  • Payments are a simple way to break down the expense over time. It’s best to start early.

  • Final payment is due one month before your trip.

  • Click HERE to go to our payment information page.

FUNDRAISING

  • Fundraising isn’t begging. It’s an opportunity to grow in your faith as you partner with God to see how He works things out for you to go. It’s also a chance to invite others to partner in the mission as those “who help send.”

  • DiscipleTrips will provide you with access to a variety of fundraising resources and offer you coaching if needed. See our resources page for more information. The bottom line is this… If God wants you on a trip and you’re willing to work, you will be able to go!

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Mission Trips shouldn’t be exclusively available to the affluent! Thanks to many generous donors, we are able to offer limited scholarships to those in need. Check out our Scholarship Page for details.

TRAINING

ONLINE TRAINING

  • Once the application process is completed, you’ll be enrolled in our online training program which partners with World Bible School.

  • The focus of the WBS curriculum is discipleship and evangelism.  You’ll be introduced to practical lessons that will help you grow and teach you how to share your faith with someone around the world or across the street.

FLIGHT SCHOOL

  • Your entire mission team will gather at your trip’s departure city on the first day of your DiscipleTrip for a mission training workshop called "Flight School."

  • At Flight School we will cover topics like: team building, mission principles, cultural sensitivity, health & safety protocols, personal evangelism and more.

  • Flight School is a critical component to the success of each DiscipleTrip as it takes individuals who may have never met one another and prepares them to function together as a healthy mission team.

YOUR MISSION TRIP

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR DISCIPLETRIP

  • Our trips provide “hands on” experiences as we partner with missionaries and organizations within the Churches of Christ to further the outreach efforts in their area.

  • Activities may include: service projects, neighborhood outreach, Bible studies, Bible class teaching, Vacation Bible School, Sermon in Song and cultural exchange.

  • We also seek out relational opportunities to encourage the local congregation(s) and gain new insights by seeing the world through different lenses.

  • Each day of your DiscipleTrip begins with morning worship and concludes with an evening devotional time of sharing and reflection.  This is an important step in processing the spiritual lessons that God is trying to teach us along the way.

  • You can expect long days, with little rest in between projects. You will be tired and often stretched beyond your “comfort zone.” However, you will sleep well each night knowing that God used you and your team to make an eternal difference!

COMING BACK HOME

RE-ENTRY

  • While the term “re-entry” is typically used for those returning from long-term missions, it’s an important concept we discuss at the end of every DiscipleTrip.

  • Our goal is to prepare you for the journey back home by helping you to understand how this experience has changed you. Then we challenge you to take the lessons you’ve learned back home to the mission field in your own backyard.

So…what are you waiting for? Start your journey today!
